A new romantic Korean drama with a groundbreaking setting of an 80-year-old wife and a young husband is about to air. JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “More Beautiful than Heaven” contains a story of a romance that transcends the present life of actors Son Seok-gu and Kim Hye-ja. Son Seok-gu was born in 1983, and Kim Hye-ja was born in 1941, making their age difference a whopping 42 years.

In particular, “More Beautiful Than Heaven” tells a romance that happens when Lee Hae-sook (Kim Hye-ja) arrives in heaven at the age of 80 and reunites with her husband Go Nak-joon (Son Seok-gu), who returns to his young age. Lee Hae-sook’s dynamic appearance in heaven as she begins her second life there is expected to bring a deep impression and pleasant laugh to viewers.

Kim Hye-ja plays the role of Kim Hae-sook, an 80-year-old wife who reunites with her young-looking husband in heaven. Having no choice but to become the breadwinner of the family due to her husband’s sudden accident, Lee Hae-sook has been living like a “veteran fighter”. She is now heading to her husband’s side at the age of 80 and living her second life there. Working with “The Light in Your Eyes” director Kim Seok-yoon, writers Lee Nam-gyu and Kim Soo-jin again, Kim Hye-ja is expected to make a lovely acting transformation with her 64 years of acting experience.

Son Seok-gu will form a special couple with Kim Hye-ja as he takes on the role of Go Nak-joon, Lee Hae-sook’s beloved husband and a mail deliveryman in heaven who is in charge of delivering letters of wishes from Earth. Leaving his wife’s side first, Go Nak-joon builds a pretty house in heaven and waits for the day he can meet her again. Go Nak-joon, a young man in his 30s, finally faces Lee Hae-sook, an older woman who is 80 years old, and their unexpected life in heaven begins.

Drama fans are also looking forward to the reunion of director Kim Seok-yoon, who has created numerous well-made dramas, and trustworthy writers Lee Nam-gyu and Kim Soo-jin. Aside from that, the cast consisting of Son Seok-gu, Han Ji-min, Lee Jung-eun, Cheon Ho-jin, Ryu Deok-hwan, and especially veteran actress Kim Hye-ja, who won Daesang at the 55th Baeksang Awards for “The Light in Your Eyes” also raise drama fans’ expectations for perfect chemistry. In particular, Kim Hye-ja and Son Seok-gu’s reunion in heaven as a couple also stimulates viewers’ curiosity.

Ahead of the official broadcast, the first teaser for “More Beautiful Than Heaven” was already released. The teaser begins with Lee Hae-sook on a subway in the afternoon when the sun is setting. She looks out of the window and wonders, “Does heaven really exist?”. As if to answer her question, the train carrying her passes through Sacheon mountain, crosses Samdocheon stream, the border of life and death, and arrives at ‘Heaven’ station, Lee Hae-sook’s final destination.

Entering heaven, Lee Hae-sook chooses to live as she is in her 80s in the heaven admission counseling room because she remembers her husband Go Nak-joon saying, “My wife was pretty in your 20s and even in your 40s, but she is the prettiest as she is now”.

However, what awaits her in heaven is, unexpectedly, her husband who has regained his appearance in his 30s. Their reunion is somewhat awkward, but soon, Lee Hae-sook and Go Nak-joon begin their second marriage life.
